Basic Tips

  1. The purpose of the resume is to introduce yourself and generate enough interest to get an interview. Resumes do not get you the job but they can eliminate you from consideration.

  2. There should only be job-oriented information about your qualifications and background on the resume. There is no reason for personal interest, hobbies, age, children, marital status etc.

  3. Keep your resume in chronological order so the reader can quickly understand what you did, where, and how well you did it.

The following is a framework for creating a resume that gets to the point.
